Re: Unable to submit sitemap.xml
Hi Dave,
I seem to be encountering a similar problem. I submitted my sitemap to
Google about 4 weeks ago, the googlebot came round immediately and got
it. Things were groovy. The website was indexed on Google on January
1st. When I did a Google search a couple of days later, I realized that
the SERP did not show the correct URL (www.poggiodelmiglio.de) but the
following:
Agriturismo Poggio del Miglio - Ferien auf dem Biobauernhof
Vermietung von Ferienwohnungen auf Bauernhof mit Wanderimkerei
(Agriturismo) im
Dreiländereck Umbrien, Latium und der Toskana.

God knows, what the people at lagodibolsena.org are doing and how. I am
a newbie, so I thought I'd check with my sitemaps account and maybe get
some info. There I read that Google couldn't retrieve my sitemap
anymore. So I resubmitted after checking that it was still in my
directory on the webserver. I got an error. I was quite desperate so I
deleted the sitemap and tried to add it again. Now I get the same error
as you:
"We couldn't find the Sitemap at the location you provided. Please make
sure the Sitemap URL is correct and resubmit your Sitemap."
This error can't have anything to do with the validity of the sitemap,
since I have not changed mine, it validated fine before and the
googlebot came round twice a day to get it. I also ran a little python
script to retrieve the sitemap from the webserver. That worked fine. I
seems to me that Google thinks that my website is hosted in a different
location. Could that also be the problem in your case?
Does anybody know what is happening here? I would greatly appreciate
any help or suggestions.
Impala
