Why won't IE show my markers?

i copied the following map:
http://www.kitebeaches.com/api/testmap.html

and created the following xml file:
http://www.kitebeaches.com/api/markers.xml

all browsers will work properly, except for the IE. i found a few XML
parsing-problems, got rid of them and still, it won't show any of the
markers.
strange thing is, i don't even get any error messages from the IE or
the netscape javascript conosle. this is beyond my abilities. i need
help.
