hm, that is just replacing the whole marker, isn't there a way of
accessing the specific img src of the visible part of the marker as a
kind of direct dom manip?

i am thinking about this as well in other circumstances, set display to
none (or opacity lower) for all markers except the one i want to show
or highlight. one could walk the DOM for that, but i am pretty shure
there are access points to those rendered markers and that they have
IDs and reference objects available.

someone worked on/with that already?
