Re: lag

First, geocities has munged your page. Compare what you uploaded to
what you see in the view source display in your browser. This may not
be causing you problems, but it certainly looks very suspicious. You
need to find out how to get rid of that cruft, or find a web host
service that does not do that to your pages.

Second, use an html validator to check for 'legal' xhtml 1.0 strict
code. I used
http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A//geocities.com/winatchess/ to
look at your page. I use the diagnostics from the w3c validator the
same way as I use a compiler's error and warning messages - an
indicator of problems I need to understand and repair.

The errors from the api key line are easy to fix. Replace all '&'
characters with '&' character entities.

The others are likely due to differences between other versions of html
and xhtml 1.0 strict. They are mostly easy to fix. If there are any
diagnostics left, they may point to a problem on your page.

With those issues out of the way, Then we can more clearly see what is
happening on your page.
