Yes, that is indeed the correct interpretation. The answer to your
question depends on how you want your map to work. There is no
one-solution-fits-all strategy here that works. The representitive
marker approach works if you have a lot of markers close together, the
display only the ones that show approach is also good, but there are
some performance issues that have to do with refreshing the markers
when the map is moved.
