Blank Google sidebar?

I had a system crash, and I reinstalled everything. I then
downloaded/installed the Google deskbar again.
It indexed my stuff, and I've rebooted a couple of times. But I have a
totally blank sidebar? No news etc.?
Is there something I need to do to activate the standard plug-ins?
