A myth, and you do know it better, at least you should.

Wow, you've one site showing "verification pending", and after some
testing I've one too, a few others posting here join the crowd, giving
a few neat test cases out of millions, not more and nothing really
serious. Annoying, yes, but not serious, because we can live without
the recently launched stats for a while.You've read that Google is
working on this problem, also please note that we're talking about a
quite new feature (queueing up verification requests) of a BETA program
in the holiday season.

Manage your expectations properly, listen when you get enlightened (at
least try to understand that your backlink analysis might be utterly
flawed), and stop whining. Perhaps one can find more glitches and flaws
in your Web site's code than in the sources of all search engine
products out there. If not, who really cares? Wall Street analysts
definitely not.

Watch this group and the Sitemaps-Blog for an announcement of the team
in charge. I'm sure they will fix the pending-verification issue
eventually, and they don't need more test cases.
