Can Google Maps API Help This Charity?

There is a charity here in town that takes food to the sick. I
recently spoke to their chairperson and she wants to web-enable their
effort.

Right now, she takes phone calls for people asking for assistance. She
takes name, address, phone number, how many people to feed, any food
alergies, etc. She calls volunteers (they cook and deliver one meal a
month) and coordinates meals for these families. The volunteer cooks
the food and delivers it.

She goes to Google Maps, get driving directions, and emails this to the
volunteer for each and every delivery. This takes hours each week.

She wants to put the database of volunteers and families in need online
in a secure fashion. She wants to let the volunteers come to the
website and sign themselves up for deliveries if they want. She will
also need an interface for linking a volunteer to a family for each
date and have it auto-generate the email with the driving directions.

The last thing she wants to do is be able to generate donations
statements at the end of the year for each volunteer. It would show
each delivery they made, the mileage they drove house-to-house, and (if
the volunteer enters it and keeps the receipts) how much they spent on
the food. All of this is tax deductible but only two of the volunteers
are tracking all this yet.

Can Google Maps do this through the API? I think I have figured out
how to do everything except calculate the driving distance for each
delivery to store in the database.

Thanks for your help!
