[Google-Desktop] Re: I've gone Microsoft....first report
I'm sorry but I have to concur with kwc here despite of everything the
gds cheerleaders say. I'm no friend of Microsoft and I will probably
not use their desktop search. For one thing, I don't use their shitty
word processor (they call it something like MS Word, I think :-}) or
Outlook, so no matter how good it is, it will probably be of little use
to me because I don't expect them to make it useful for searching with
the competition formats.
Having said this, though, what is really a shame for Google is the
little or non-existant support they give to their Desktop Search
application. Do they have anybody working on it to improve it or was it
simply someone's little pet project and they have abandoned it because
they are too busy carrying all their advertisement money to the banks.
I had really viewed Google as a solid company but with respect to their
desktop search application, they are screwing really bad. If all the
potential users they have are as disillusioned as I am, I don't expect
this to be a success story and Microsoft will beat Google hands down
(unfortunately, it seems that unlike me, the great majority of people
just want their Word and Outlook documents searched).
