[lug] Re: FTP-Server

Well the real question is why is the stuff you have tried not working?
Firewall? Errors in config file? Tell me what you have tried, and why
you think it isn't working. I use Mandriva, but Ubuntu shouldn't be
that hard/different.

Here is a tutorial that seems easy enough to follow for your distro:

http://ubuntuguide.org/#ftpserver

When you have gone through the tutorial, try ftping to your machine
locally. (meaning use: ftp 127.0.0.1 or ftp localhost, or even your
internal IP address, ftp 192.168.0.2 for example) This is remove any
firewall/ISP issues. Then, let us know how it goes, and we can work
from there. The next steps would be to open your firewall on your
broadband connection (if you have a firewall on it), and then test
using your internet IP address. Hopefully, your ISP doesn't block ftp
inbound. we can test that simple enough.
