Site isn't being indexed

www.tennisphilly.com
and
www.tennisdc.com

are off-spring of
www.tennisnortheast.com

Both websites have been submitted, have sitemaps and have back links
from tennisnortheast.com. Both sites have been visted by the
googlebot, but neither site has been fully indexed correctly.
Tennisphilly only has a homepage reference and nothing else, while
tennisdc has the old tennis northeast description which has since been
updated.

Any help with why after 3 weeks these sites can't get indexed correctly
would be greatly appreciated.

When I write a reply to a mail on Gmail.com the whole signature of
original mail is included, but I dont like it. Its very annoying to me.

Is gmail truncates the ending space after --, or what?

How can I teach Gmail to exclude everything from the separator sign
(double dashes followed by a space)?

You can only do that if you set up the other account to forward the emails to a specific address (as an example for you, you could do lucaleonardo.bologna@gmail.com (emails sent to that address, even with the period, will come to you - it's one of GMail's quirks).  You could then set up a filter to label any emails sent to that address "Other E-mails" or some such thing.

Just add a "color" style to your map div that sets it back to black.

Hey GM gurus, could use some help. I'm a real web design newbee so
bare with me here. I'm building a webpage for a client of mine
(typically an illustrator not a web designer) and I'm adding a Gmap to
their contact page. So far I've got the gist of getting the map,
controls, and info tag up and going but the problem I'm having is that
my default page text color is white and so is seems GM uses this for
its text color. I've looked all over and searched the discussion
boards here with not luck on how to set the control boxes and info
windows text colors (back to black). Hopefully there's an easy way.
I'm guess it can be done easier with a "Styles" section or CSS, but
then at the moment I know next to nothing of CSS,.. yet (giving myself
a crash course on CSS today)

Try to make your page look more like you started with one of the
working API examples and added your stuff, rather than looking like you
started with a page without a map and tried to add in the map stuff.

First, let's move the </head> below your scripts, to just above the
<body> tag.

Then add a function called, e.g. InitPage() containing all the stuff
from the <script> near the bottom of your page, just before the //]]>
in the <script> in the <head>.

change the <body> tag to <body onload="InitPage();">

Add, as the very first statement inside InitPage(): "map =
GMap(<whatever>);". See the API documentation example for complete
statement.

and put a "var map;" immediately before the "function InitPage()"

This will make it look a lot more like the example code in the API
documentation.

Suggestion for Future Development (Master Post)

Great service that you are providing would like to suggest some added
features.

1) Video Rating
2) Hit counters
3) Code that people can use to play videos from their sites. (Put some
Google ads on the side.)
4) Integration into search results like you do now with music.
5) Video sharing options:
Private: You could share it by sending a link in an email, a special
link would be provided.
Public: Video is open to public/anyone.
6) Expand popular and random video features.
7) How about voice-recognition software that scans the video and
generates the transcripts automatically. Then Google translator
software can also provide the transcript or rather the subtitle file in
any language the user wants. This should be built into the up loader
software and be a feature that users run on there PC before uploading.

If anyone has any other features they wish please add them to this post
so they are all in the same place.

Re: Floating Map Windows

I can see a lot of problems putting the map in a floating div. The API
has to be able to translate between page coordinates and map
coordinates. I believe the way it is implemented, it assumes that the
map never changes its position on the page, so the code caches (or
precalculates) a number of conversion factors. You might have to send
the GMap object resize events (by calling it's resize handler) every
time the map div changes position relative to the page. Will the
browser send events whenever a floating div moves?

I think you should be able to isolate the map though, by putting it
into an iframe which is inside your floating div. As far as the map is
concerned, it never moves relative to its page inside the iframe.
Passing information back and forth between the main frame and the
iframe is a bit more complicated than the simple case where the map is
in the main frame.

The map API code should be included in the iframe only. When you
include the API script, it creates objects in the document scope. In
the main frame, you need to look for the GPoint object in the iframe's
document scope, rather than the main frame's document scope. Perhaps do
something like "new <iframe>.document.GPoint(...);" instead of "new
GPoint(...);". Or perhaps "GPoint = <iframe>.document.GPoint;" would
work. (See my example for one way to locate the iframe.)

I have a button on the main page which performs a
recenterOrPanToLatLng() on the map in the iframe. As I said, it's a
very simple example. I'm not sure that the way I dealt with the GPoint
scope issue is valid. It works for this example, but I'd try something
like I mention above, if I was doing it again.

[lug] Kernel building failure on FC4

Hi all,
I have a Fedora Core 4 in my DELL 6000 laptop. It works nice, but I
have a problem with building new kernel from the kernel source FC4
itself have provided(in /usr/src/kernels/2.6.11-1.1369_FC4-i686/
directory).
All of documents about kernel building mention "make xconfig, make dep,
make clean and make bzImage" as sequence of commands for the process,
but after I change configurations (even with no changes) using "make
xconfig" problems appear....:

make dep says:
*** Warning: make dep is unnecessary now.

make clean says:
fs/hostfs/Makefile:11: arch/um/scripts/Makefile.rules: No such file or
directorymake[2]: *** No rule to make target
`arch/um/scripts/Makefile.rules'. Stop.

make: *** [_clean_fs] Error 2

make bzImage says:

I have found that if I posted a picture but still kept it in my files, when I went to my group that I posted the picture and tried to view the picture from there (ie:  clicking on view) the picture would not show up in my browser.  D you already have that picture in your files?

BTW, Images also don't show up when groupowners want to moderate

Furthermore, backgrounds don't show up in the webarchive altogether.
Compare the above message to the Libertaria group at Google with the
same message to the Libertaria group at Yahoo, where the background
does show up:

Running,

The critical factor is the opacity of the polyline. You are not
specifying it in your new GPolyline call, so it is assigned a default
value between 0 and 1. The default value is 0.45 in maps.29.js.

The polyline is drawn as though you were using a magic marker with
semitransparent ink, in this case, ink that passes 55% of the light
from the image below.

When you draw a polyline, you start by setting the marker tip down on
the starting point, and dragging to the end point. When you draw up to
a point, and then continue on (or start another polyline at that
point), visualize that fat marker depositing two layers of ink over the
point. Each layer has 45% opacity, so each passes 55% of the light from
below, for an effective transmission of 30.25% or an opacity of 69.75%.
This is much darker than the default opacity of 45%. Thus the dark spot
at each overlapping polyline end/start point. You will also see these
spots where two polylines cross.

This is one of the consequences of simple drawing with semi-transparent
'ink'. The work-around for long polylines in Firefox requires you to
break up long polylines, making this problem more visible.

wat type of GD APIs are you using? If you are using the search api,
then u do not need to register with GD. But seem to me tat you are
writing a plugin, as wat you mention are stuffs for registering a

So, I need to see your query to even load the page. Then, what
variables, ie how many + their parameters.

Why not just collect the info from a clickhandler ie: the lat, lng, and
zoom - into hidden fields, and then get them to select the 'type' with
your drop down that submits on show, or whatever it s when a submit
happens when you make a choice.

says "your updates will be availabe soon" and when i search for it it

If your site is technically ok, then Sitemaps are always to your
advantage. However, if you have less than say 500 pages, I wouldn't
bother with it, because Google will be able to crawl the site perfectly
anyway :-)

Sorry if you're frustrated. If you would listen to us, perhaps you
could solve the issue instead of just continuing ranting. Rant or rank,
it's your choice :-)

The "rest of the spiders" and Google are 2 different things; some
things stay static, some things evolve. Google is not one to sit still
for long, and if it has the chance and technology, it will remove all
"unnatural listings". There is a lot of work behind that, and they are
making great leaps. If you continue to try the old tricks, they just
won't function on Google. If you work hard on getting a natural linking
structure, you have a much better chance in the long term.

the same as getting indexed. Getting indexed is not related to ranking
on your keywords.

Crawl Stat Errors - Removed/Still Showing?

I have used Google's removal tool to remove dead links to posts I
deleted in my blog BUT in Google sitemaps the errors stills show. Will
the errors in sitemaps reflect this and clear at someone point? It
looks very messy and I am concerned that Google will devalue my site
because of all these errors.

Lucky for you, I just upgraded to Firefox 1.5 last evening. I noticed a
problem in your map's infowindow that occurs because of a known bug in
FF1.5... per 'AK', your workaround is to wrap infowindow content into
<div style="white-space:nowrap;"> . . . </div>

Another workaround is (e.g.) <div style="width:250px;"> . . . </div>
around the infowindow html. The disadvantage of this is fairly
apparent... a specific width is dependant on the data within.

It also depends on the number of points in the polyline you have. I saw
one huge polyline with several hundred points and it took a pretty long
time to render (using Firefox) and slowed down the movement of the map.

or Alexa, it is a good idea to try to have
valid HTML/XHTML code,
good use of style sheets,
and care when using frames (like giving the correct
DOCTYPE header or having relevant content within the
noframes tag).
There are various degrees of importance for (X)HTML errors,
as Phil wrote some can be considered trivial, while others
I think could make more difficult for search engine spiders
to extract content of meta tags or links etc.
If somebody can try to minimize the errors in their HTML code,
then why not?

You can only do that if you set up the other account to forward the emails to a specific address (as an example for you, you could do lucaleonardo.bologna@gmail.com (emails sent to that address, even with the period, will come to you - it's one of GMail's quirks).  You could then set up a filter to label any emails sent to that address "Other E-mails" or some such thing.

Thank you for your reply. I live in an area where cellular coverage is
lacking. I have to travel about 30 miles to get in range of a tower,
and then the coverage is spotty. Wirelless coverage is not an option
for me, so, invitations are the only way I can go. I agree with your
point that the average surfer might just sign up to be doing something
if it wre possible, resulting in a lot of inactive or seldon used
G-Mail accounts. The point that bothers me is whether someone who wants
300 or so invites really has that many e-mail buddies to distribute
them to.

I think what is meant is clustering the markers. My suggestion is to
decide which level of detail is sufficient (fx. zip code) and then
choose custom icons to represent different donation amounts.

Grouping is not handled by the API so it's up to you to group your data
before sending it to the client.

can reset the MRB. Windows keeps a copy of the original before SuSE
made changes. Then you could just reinstall SuSE.

The API doesn't provide any method for group of points, but lots of

I think it still makes sense; Byron has the right idea. I'm not totally
satisfied with the system, but it works well and I can access it from
pretty much anywhere. In fact, I'm on my PocketPC now (so that I can
get caught up while being close to my better-half while she sleeps). My
biggest issues are with (1) the "silly" drop-down lists which aren't
consistent depending on where you are; (2) the common-sense that the
archive and spam buttons should stay unless you in your archives or
spam area; and (3) that it's pretty useless to make me wade through
only 20 messages at a time when I do a search. ESPECIALLY if i'm wading
through spam to find false positives... yecck.

If they would fix those things I would be satisfied too.

Oh dear Bob - I know you're .co.uk but didn't realise you had a prob!
Either you're the exception that proves the rule, or my theory's
scuppered! :-) Whatever, it does seem there's something wrong with
Froogle, whether the server's down or it's just throwing out incorrect
messages. We'll just have to wait till the team sort it out.

It's good when members let us know the outcome of a problem, then the
rest of us know what to expect.

Been trying to get verified for a couple of weeks now.

I have the file in place and pressed the button.

Reviewed my logs and found 404's from googlebot requesting the wrong
filename. Almost correct but missing one char and then again with the
GOOGLE part all uppercase.

Still not verified.

Was this a typo or indication of someone spoofing me?

could live with not being able to drag the map, and if clicking an
object returned the (x,y) position of the click then it would be
possible to recentre map on the click, which would be good enough in my
case.

Unfortunately my areas are definitely not rectangular, and the edges
are quite important in this case so it's not really possible to
approximate. But if it's possible to use boundary points to define the
area, that would be great.

It isn't the first time this has happened. I'm sure it's made worse by
people keep uploading, though you can't blame them when they keep
getting failure messages. It will just suddenly start working again
without warning.

If anyone manages to upload successfully please post to the forum to

This has happened before. It may be due to a rush of feed uploads and
past experience has shown that increased uploading does seem to
exacerbate problems on Froogle. Give the team a bit of time and I'm
sure they'll sort it out.

I'm inclined to agree with Gmail. I work in networks and if your
tracert is getting to "Connection Timed Out" there is something wrong.
Send the results of the tracert to your ISP as it will help them
determine what the problem is, but I'd definitely say this sounds like
something local to you, your ISP, your local region, etc.

If you'd like to post the screenshot of your tracert here as well, I'm
sure there are people who (like me) could possibly garner some help
for you.

Namaza tekbirle girmek, “İlâhî, biz senin huzurunda kurban olduk” demektir. (Tekbir getirerek kurban kesildiği gibi, tekbirle namaza başlamak da ‘Allah’ım, canımız sana feda olsun’ anlamındadır.)

Namazda kıyama durmak, Allah’ın huzurunda kıyametteki muhasebeyi hatırlatır. Kul, biraz sonra hakkıyla yerine getiremediği kulluğundan ve işlediği günahlardan dolayı, utancından ayakta durmaya dermanı kalmaz, rükû’a eğilir.

Başı rükû’da iken “Hakk’ın sualle-rine cevap ver!” diye İlâhî ferman gelir. Kul, rükûdan başını mahcup olarak kaldırır. Ayakta duramaz, yüz üstü secdeye kapanır.

Tekrar ona “Secdeden başını kaldır! Yapmış olduklarından haber ver!” diye ferman gelir. O, yine mahcup bir halde başını kaldırırsa da, tekrar yüzüstüne kapanır.

O ağır yükün tesirinden  dizleri üstüne çöker. Sağa selam verir; peygamberler ve melekler tarafına bakar, onlardan şefaat talep eder. Onlar derler: “Çare ve yardım günü geçti. Çare, ancak dünyada olabilirdi. Orada salih amellerde bulunmadınız, o günler gitti.”

Sola selam verir; akraba ve yakınlarının tarafına bakar. Onlardan da bir fayda göremez.

Herkesten ümidini kesince, dua için iki elini kaldırır.  “Ya Rabbi, herkesten ümidimi kestim. Kuluna melce ancak Sensin. Senin rahmet ve mağfiretine sınır yoktur”.

[Gmail-Users] Gmail Sign Up Page Problem, ISP To Blame?

>From the start of December ive been unable to get onto the sign in page
at all apart from if i delete all my cache & cookies then go though a
Yahoo serach link to get onto the sign in pagebut then when i put my
details in it just freezes on the white screen.

At all times it says connection to Gmail taking to long to connect, im
using the newest Firefox 1.5 & Windows 6.

Ive asked Gmail & they say its my ISP, i asked my ISP (NTL) here in the
UK, & they got me to run a tracert on it but it always said "Connection
Timed Out".

Ive used all the different ways to try to get onto the sign up page but
no luck.

Is this a common problem?

Eylemi ne kadar sert yaparsam, mesajı o kadar çabuk iletebileceğimi düşündüm. İşe yarayacağını düşündüm.

Beslan'da küçük çocukların olacağını hiç düşünmemiştim. Bu bir okul. Her neyse en küçüğü 6 yaşında olacaktı. Yolun karşısında bir anaokulu var. Kimseyi görmedim. Haritalarla çalıştık, her şeye baktık. Planlar yaptım ve komutana, Rus görevliler geldiğinde, taleplerimizi resmi bir şekilde iletmelerini ve on yaşından küçük her kesin serbest bırakılmasını söyledim. Hiçbir soru sorulmadı. Ona söylediklerim bundan ibaret. Benim şartlarım bunlardı.

Babitski anlatıyor; Kanlı çatışmayı başlatan okuldaki ilk patlamayı Basayev'e sordum. O da elindeki bilgiere göre spor salonunda, patlayıcının tetiğine ayağıyla bastıran Çeçenin bir keskin nişancı tarafından vurulduğunu söyledi. Vurulan Çeçen bombanın tetiğini tutmakla görevliydi. Babitsky: Sanırım bunun yanında inançsal bir motivasyon da söz konusu.

Kaç kişi inanılmaz korkunç ve insanlık dışı işkenceye maruz kaldı. Sanırım eğer federal güvenlik servisiyle temasa geçseydim, kendimi işkence konusu yapardım. Sanırım böyle bir kaderi gönüllü olarak seçmek de gayet akılsız ve mantıksızca bir şey olurdu.

hmm... there's probably hundreds of linux newbie sites like this.

I appreciate your work in finding them, but this group has always been about answering people's questions (please bear in mind that I don't represent the whole group here, this is simply my point of view). We always have need of these sorts of sites for people who have problems, but I think starting a big thread on it isn't going to help.

 

What you could do would be to set up a website with a catalogue of all the good newbie linux help sites, then give us the link to that. That way we don't have to trawl through the archives to find this list.

 

Though just for the sake of adding to your collection, www.linux-directory.com is a good site.

I don't want to be insulting, but the term "beta" usually indicates a
product that is to a "working" but not "finished" state. Thus, the
implied meaning is that while an increasing number of people are using
it, and finding bugs, the programmers are still at work, possibly even
on new features, as well as fixing the bugs that the beta testers (that
would be you) are finding.

solution, well not so much a solution but rather a course of action that
pertains to this problem. You could search for it under my name. It is
only a day or two old.

In the mean time, for time critical messages it would be advisable not
to use GMail until this problem is rectified.

How did you lose the data? Were you attempting to transmit when the
freeze occurred? Are we talking about the BSOD (Blue Screen of Death)
here or just a temporary lockup?

In the event of a lockup, try waiting ten minutes. I know it sounds
ridiculous, but it has been shown to work in certain situations.

By the way, before posting about some OS involved crisis, it would
behoove you to list your specific OS and its configuration. Without it,
we are all just guessing at a solution.

In addition, backup were made just for this situation. Employ them, or
don't complain.

Hmm, SuSE 9.3 should automatically configure the bootloader to boot windows if it finds a windows partition on the harddisk.

 

If you want to be able to boot both Linux and Windows from the MBR (without faffing with CDs), then it is perfectly possible. Firstly do exactly as gcopper said above, and then when you've booted linux from your boot CD.

 

Open YAST from within KDE or GNOME (kdesu /etc/sbin/yast2), then look about for an icon which mentions bootloader settings. Clik on the icon. In the window that comes up change the setting which says 'leave code in the MBR untouched' (something like taht), to something like 'replace code in MBR'. Hit OK, and then reboot.

 

Now in linux again...

 

Now you need to edit a file which is likely to be called menu.lst that will be somewhere in /boot/grub

 

Once you have opened this file (you need to either be logged in as root or use the sudo command e.g. sudo pico /boot/grub/menu.lst) you will need to add these lines at the end:

title Windows XP
rootnoverify (hd0,1)

makeactive
chainloader +1
 

note that you should change the (hd0,1) to represent the partition where your Windows is stored, the first number is your harddisk number (this will be 0 if you have only one harddisk), and the second is the partition number (0 is the first partition, 1 is the second etc.)

Save the file.

Reboot Linux, you should see the option to boot WINDOWS XP

Blusesky-- we are discussing the fate of MSs .NET, and discussing the other options like Novell's MONO project.

 

As for being careless with money, I am also amazed at the way large companies are throwing it away on inferior software's which cost far too much. For example, working with certain banks, I have seen them using very expensive MS operating systems for ATMs (and other blunders which I can't mention because of strict confidentiality where bank systems are concerned), even though many of the people I have met in these companies would find it much easier to work on a different, more mature, more secure, and much much cheaper alternative.

 

It may be just me, but when I see an ATM with a C++ runtime error, in redmond colors it does drive me quite crazy, and makes me want to never use my card in a cashpoint ever again.

 

As for being Microsoft certified, one can probably become certified at certain Universities of which MS are sponsors. I'm not sure whether this would add more dollars to student fees though.
